The Pediatric and Adolescent Community Residential Program emphasizes normalization and community integration for children and adolescents with developmental disabilities. The preferences of each individual are incorporated into his/her daily routine, including community activities. The program maximizes the independence of each individual, while maintaining a focus on maladaptive behavior reduction, consistent with the most current practices of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
Families will see their child participating in a routine consistent with that of other children their age. Children and families will participate in life planning for the child. The Community Residential Program will help prepare each child to have a productive and fulfilling life as an adult.
Outcomes
Fifty-five percent of the persons served in the community program have progressed
from more restrictive settings. Many were admitted to the Lindens initially,
and are now successfully residing in community homes and attending school.
Those served participate in community activities an average of six times
per week.
